Indeed. We were in this situation every year with the kids since there is only a short school holiday in winter in New Zealand. For Mexico in 2006, Edinburgh in 2007 and New York in 2010 I did bring one or two children with me as we felt that the experience of the travel vastly outweighed whatever they would have had drummed into them in school during that time. Even their teachers agreed!
