It has been brought to my inattention that the UNL ATE hotel has the perfect aspect ratio to serve as a canvas for the Debian swirl logo.
With a colleague from the icy north of Winnipeg we constructed a guide for lighting up the hotel with a Debian swirl. We propose doing this Wednesday night from 8 p.m. until potentially 9 (unless you need to use the room I guess). We will give these plans to the hotel so they can facilitate access to unoccupied rooms. By utilizing curtain technology we can get 4 whole bits of brightness per window! Here is what it looks like: beautiful in a monospace font and goofy in a proportional font. ................................ ........##################...... ....##########################.. .########.......#####....######. #####.......##########.....####. ####........##........##...####. .###........#####..##.#######... .#####........###########....... ..######........................ .....######..................... .........#########.............. With shell magic we have our marching orders! Here is the room number followed by one of the following: 0000: You stay in darkness 1111: Curtains wide open, lights on. (the other numbers) - 0 is where your curtain is. Your lights remain on. For example, 0110 is curtains half open closed on the two sides and open on the middle. 1001 0000 1002 0000 1003 1111 1004 1111 1005 1111 1006 1111 1007 1100 1008 0000 901 0000 902 1111 903 1111 904 1111 905 1111 906 1111 907 1111 908 1100 801 0111 802 1111 803 1000 804 0000 805 1111 806 1000 807 0111 808 1110 701 1111 702 1000 703 0000 704 1111 705 1111 706 1100 707 0001 708 1110 601 1111 602 0000 603 0000 604 1100 605 0000 606 0011 607 0001 608 1110 501 0111 502 0000 503 0000 504 1111 505 1001 506 1011 507 1111 508 1000 401 0111 402 1100 403 0000 404 0011 405 1111 406 1111 407 1000 408 0000 301 0011 302 1111 303 0000 304 0000 305 0000 306 0000 307 0000 308 0000 201 0000 202 0111 203 1110 204 0000 205 0000 206 0000 207 0000 208 0000 101 0000 102 0000 103 0111 104 1111 105 1100 106 0000 107 0000 108 0000 source for calculation and inspection is at https://9ol.es/tmp/deb26-lights.tgz It will be marvelous!
