finally, the second part of the job I volunteered to do - preparing a
team to do the travel sponsorship work for this years conference.
I finally got the last two replies, so am able to present the team I
selected to you. (Not that being sick this week did help with getting it
done sooner).

The people that volunteered (or didn't ran away fast enough when I asked
them) are

drops out.

Sam is in with his role as DPL, but will stay in after the term
ends. The new DPL might want to join too, if he really wants it. I will
talk to him when we know who it is. Or he simply trusts us to do it
right. :)


Now, for your amusement, a little description of the work this team will
have to do:

   There will be two non-public IRC meetings (sorry, this one thing is
   pretty private as it will contain names and travel data of every
   applicant), where we will discuss the travel sponsorship people
   requested. We will vote on every single applicant with a yes, no,
   maybe or abstain, which translates into points:

   Yes will count as +1
   No  will count as -1
   Maybe will count  0.5
   Abstain then is   0

   Count that together, with the amount of people we have in the team,
   and you get a first ranking, between 0 and 100%. Of course some
   people will have the same outcome, so later on there is a second
   meeting, where we do sort those again, giving out scores (simply some
   point system with the condition that no two people will ever get the
   same).

   The above thing is totally done with the assumption that we have
   infinite amounts of money available, the point of the meeting is not
   to assign actual money, but to sort the list of applicants in a way
   that, whenever there is money, we can just pick people from a list,
   top-down, and tell them "You are sponsored". 

The end result will be a clean list of applicants, sorted top-down,
enabling one person later to assign sponsorship as soon as
resources are available. Without needing to discuss or ask again.
