Hi folks, I'm not absolutely sure whether this is SPAM and whether it might be worth answering. Maybe AI gets better and better? Forwarding to you for a second opinion anyway.
See you Andreas. ----- Weitergeleitete Nachricht von Business Events <[email protected]> ----- Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2026 11:30:22 +0000 From: Business Events <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Subject: Debian Conference Dear Mr Tille, I hope this email finds you well. I am contacting you on behalf of Newcastle Gateshead Convention Bureau (UK) with regards to the Debian Conference (DebConf) As the Debian Project Leader, I was hoping you might be able to answer a few questions we have about the activities of the Debian Project and your meetings. We would be delighted to know more about the Debian Conference (DebConf) as we think Newcastle could be a great place to host a future edition. We were wondering how you select future destinations. I understand the call for bids for the 2027 edition was recently closed and we are hoping to explore future opportunities I believe the 2026 edition will go to Santa Fe, USA. Last time the conference came to the UK was in 2007 in Edinburgh. It would be great to host locally after so many years, unless something may prevent your local members from coming forward with a proposal. At this stage we haven’t reached out to them, as we wanted to check the feasibility of such initiative with you in advance. Many thanks for your help. It’s much appreciated!
