Hrm. That's less optimistic :-/ > I'd definitely recommend trying to stick as close to the setup that the CCC > VOC > use for reduced hassles. > > Ryan Verner ([email protected]) is the best person to ask about how > voctomix at LCA went. His reply also isn't entirely optimistic. We should still be prepared to fall back to dvswitch then, I guess. That means we definitely need DV cameras, and so I think it makes sense to ship stuff from Paris to Cape Town (because renting DV cameras in this day and age is... well, let's not go there). We should probably focus on that first then, so that we know it is sorted. So, inventory: - DV cameras and some laptops are in Paris. Last year, Mehdi went to IRILL and organized shipping. This year, Mehdi is running for DPL, so I'm assuming he'll have less time (especially right now, during campaigning) to deal with that. Anyone on this list who's in Paris and who could take care of that? If not, we'll need to find someone else. - We received a number of X220 laptops last year. What happened to them again? - We bought a number of firewire expresscards. If I'm not mistaken, I took them home (but I could be mistaken, it's been a while). I'll double-check that; if I have them, they can easily go in my luggage (they're certainly small enough). On that subject though, I'm not happy with them; they were far too unreliable. - For screen capture, presumably we'll not be using the twinpacts anymore but these HDMI2USB thingies instead; these seemed to work well enough at the cambridge miniconf. If so, we don't need as many firewire-capable laptops; we could then keep the laptops with builtin firewire for the camera connections, and use the X220s for the HDMI2USB thingies. - We'll need to ship some audio gear from Paris to Cape town, too, and we'll also need to rent some stuff locally. Someone with more knowledge of audio than yours truly should talk with the local team and get that prepared. - ... anything I missed? -- < ron> I mean, the main *practical* problem with C++, is there's like a dozen people in the world who think they really understand all of its rules, and pretty much all of them are just lying to themselves too. -- #debian-devel, OFTC, 2016-02-12
