Right now, there is no other config than to enroll fingerprints themselves. By this, I mean that when I enroll my fingerprint with Gnome GUI Settings, it doesn't propose which option I wanna be able to use it with (automatic pam.d configuration). This said, if I use my fingerprint on first login after booting the computer, Gnome asks for my password afterwards to unlock the keyring. Why is it possible to login using fingerprint at first, then? Also, I wanna use my fingerprint both in the terminal (sudo) and when GUI asks for privileges. I've had to configure /etc/pam.d files using guides here and there online and have had a hard time to find all the good options for my needs. pam-auth-update was not a solution, because it edits /etc/pam.d/common-auth and overrides everything else by imposing fingerprint, which is not my intention. I would like the GUI fingerprint enrollment page to give options of where and when this feature should be used, so noobies like me would have less of a hard time configuring it. Also, it would be great if the documentation would explain which option can be activated where, so even if users have to use the terminal, it is clear for them what to edit. # System Details Report --- ## Report details - **Date generated:** 2025-08-28 18:03:42 ## Hardware Information: - **Hardware Model:** Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 1 - **Memory:** 16.0 GiB - **Processor:** Intel® Core™ i5-10310U × 8 - **Graphics:** Intel® UHD Graphics (CML GT2) - **Graphics 1:** Quadro P520 - **Disk Capacity:** 512.1 GB ## Software Information: - **Firmware Version:** N2XET43W (1.33 ) - **OS Name:** Ubuntu 25.04 - **OS Build:** (null) - **OS Type:** 64-bit - **GNOME Version:** 48 - **Windowing System:** Wayland - **Kernel Version:** Linux 6.14.0-28-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/2121628/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~debcrafters-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~debcrafters-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
