The SE/30 has 8mb ram and loads of h/d space (like 32MB swap and 4-500 mb linux partition).
the 8MB ram would be the problem there.
A few months ago a friend started installing Woody on an 8MB Mac IIci (also a 68030). It was a good 4 days (maybe 5) before the install finished. Swapping with that amount of memory was -harsh-.
However, with a quick upgrade to 20MB it was quite usable afterwards.
