Well... I think it's REALLY different protocols. =). I just installed GIFT
a day ago, but didn't configured it successfully.
Later I'll try, and those GIFT-authors are developing eMule plugin for this
daemon... 
AmuleD and Mlonkey for are really cpu and mem consuming applications. So,
I'll try to set up GIFT framework for successful P2Ping.

I've been told that eMule etc is just another name for the napster protocol;
if that's correct, you want to try the 'nap' package.
