hi, i just got a free quadra 630 Friday. it boots my sarge install very well, but not so well my etch testing - which are getting probably too old now, dated August 14th -
anyway udevd gave errors and the ide disk also, but i got to a login prompt anyway with 2.6.17. then i had no keyboard nor did power switch respond so i pulled plug. restarted no damages to macos (had been very careful from before - crashes with older '030 lcIII, reformatted with aps powertools) and fsck cleared rebooting into sarge. i must say it is much more like useable this machine. basicly what is seems close to a 900. cuda adb. ethernet card is lcIII-nubus asante. i am running ok with 36mb ram but it can take up to 128 (costs like $100 though, 64 is maybe like $40) not sure what to do now. maybe work on getting a good installation of sarge with software i want. maybe a small test partition of 2.6 kernel. maybe work with emile a bit more. i mean if it could boot the 2.6 from a floppy saving thus lessening the beating ?
