Hi! The brave guys at NMMN in Hamburg did manage to get Crest up again! Hooray!
The reason was - as expected - a hanging fsck on /dev/sda7. They proceeded with Ctrl-D and now the machine is up again. Maybe someone with more experience with ext3 filesystems should do a full fsck run again on that partition, before we add a FSCKFIX=yes in /etc/default/rcS to prevent such a downtime again.
