BTW, I had a quick look for other bug fixes that might need backporting (neglecting coldfire) and I found this: http://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=commitdiff;h=f422081b5615ce3dc436377be3ce7da04b8fbc52 http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39531 I gather it applies to 64-bit cross-compilers (or those with sizeof(long) == 8 at least). So it may not relate to your present goal but Debian/Ubuntu users will most likely want it sooner or later.
