If the CPU has this mask set then FPU emulation isn't a viable solution.
You really need to get a 68040 chip (or a 68LC040 chip without the bug).

'030 CPUs don't have floating point exception bugs. It'll work with an emulated FPU.

On the other hand, if you plan to use it a lot, you could search eBay or elsewhere for an LC Ethernet card. Many have FPU sockets and can be had for $20 or less. A quick search for 68882 shows many PLCC versions for less than $10.
