If you want to have this version of debian talk with orca or espeak, on post-install it will only do so on the traditional sound card output and not usb. This even happens if when doing an install no traditional speaker set was ever connected to the computer. If both speaker sets are connected, yes the speaker selection script runs but no post-install the speaker selection if it was usb is not honored. You have to plug in a traditional set of speakers and remove a usb speaker set to get any speech from the system post-install. Makes no difference if mate and debian desktop environment are installed. If mate and dependencies are installed with a usb sound card being plugged in afterwards in menus when you choose sound then sound card, you get no option to change which sound card is to be used.
