Personally, I believe that the "root password" part of the installer should be demoted to one of the more advanced pages. There are many pages in the installer that do not show by default. Ubuntu has always given sudo power to the initial user and disabled root login by default. The Ubuntu developers consider this security hardening since logs are more likely to show which specific user was doing root stuff instead of an anonymous root user on a multiuser system. Fedora works like Ubuntu. I don't think I have the time and energy to try to push for that change before the Trixie release. What seems like an obvious improvement to me is likely to be seen as an unnecessary removal of a feature by the installer maintainers. (If it was obvious, they probably would have made the change years ago!) That's not saying that things can't change, even long-established things. But it often takes work and social skill.
