I installed the image debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso from
https://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/
This was in a virtual machine, but it seemed to work fine.

I can confirm that on a System76 laptop there was no speech on trixie
alpha1. That machine had speech with the bookworm installer.
I was hoping to try and capture what was going on, but I am
just not finding time. I am being slammed by work and personal life.
