The Common Web Project - Register Your WebID and Digital P.O. Box The Common Web Project is launched for a simple mission that EVERYONE has a permanent WebID (or Space ID), which is close to the concept of Universal ID, where "everyone" can be a person, a company, an organization, a group, etc. This is like establishing a permanent address for everyone. The WebID has to be permanent - it cannot be your email address or phone number, as they may change any time and they are subject to spams. It cannot be your name either, as there may be duplications. So the ID is separate from your email address, home address, phone number and your name. You can choose a WebID in any way you like - as long as it does not duplicate any existing WebID. You may release your ID to others so they can always reach you. Your privacy is guaranteed because the Common Web is serving as a middle layer between you and others. However you can choose to associate your current email address or cell phone number to your WebID so whenever any documents (including messages) are delivered to your WebID you can be notified. Fully operated by a non-profit research organization, the Common Web Project builds a complete infrastructure to support WebID. With thousands of registered users since its launch in June we are inviting you to join us as well.
