Which Number 9 card? Many were based on S3 chipsets (either Trio64 or ViRGE-based). If you can, provide the output of 'lspci -v'. That would help in trying to figure out what type of card it is. If it is S3-based, the SVGA driver may not be the Xserver that you need. > Configured drivers: > SVGA: server for SVGA graphics adaptors (Patchlevel 0): > mga2064w, mga1064sg, mga2164w, mga2164w AGP, mgag200, mgag100, > mgag400, s3_virge ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Note that most of the supported cards in the SVGA server are Matrox cards. > (--) SVGA: PCI: S3 Trio32/64 rev 0, Memory @ 0x04800000 Here's why I suspect an S3 chipset :-) I've got a Trio64, FYI, and have been down this road before :-) Before trying just the S3 server, though, let's have a look at that lspci and find out just which (S3 or S3V) is better for your card).
