Can't tell you for sure, since I'm at work and the computer's at home, but according to the AlphaBIOS HOWTO: "With the introduction of the XLT series, Digital changed the system console interface for its NT systems from ARC to AlphaBIOS." Seems to imply XLs still used ARC... Also, the interface for the XL looks identical to the interface on my AS200, which I think is also ARC. I updated the firmware on that one with both ARC and SRM updates, as I recall. And the option to upgrade the firmware in the XL is "Update firmware" rather than "Upgrade AlphaBIOS" as in the alphabios-howto. Anyway, i'll look into the CDs. Thanks for your help. Andy
