Hello, I am having some difficulty installing debian on my pc164lx alpha system. I am trying to install from a cdrom. I am using "linux rescue" for the Boot Name (not very helpful), the Boot File selection I'm using is "CD:", the Boot File field I'm using is "\boot\lx164\linload.exe", the OS Path selection I'm using is "CD:", the OS Path field I'm using is "\", and (one of the many) the OS Options selection I've tried is "boot cdrom:/dev/cdrom/boot/lx164/linux root=/dev/cdrom/lx164/linux". When I save these settings I do not get the message that my selection is invalid as stated in 8.3.1 AlphBIOS Emergency and Setup Boot at http://www.bard.org.il/~marc/html/DebAlphaHOWTO.html/ch-Procedure.html. When I use those selections and select "linux rescue" as the operating system to start, I get the message:
Linux Loader V1.5 Copyright(c) 1994,1995 Digital Equipment Corporation System Partition is OSLOADPARTITION=sci(1)cdrom(1)fdisk(0) Load File Name is OSLOADFILNAME=\ Load Path is scsi(1)cdrom(1)fdisk(0)\ OSLOADOPTIONS=boot cdrom:/dev/cdrom/boot/lx164/linux root=/dev/cdrom/boot/lx164 Opening file scsi(1)cdrom(1)fdisk(0)\milo ... ? File Open Error, Status 0xe. Error loading scsi(1)cdrom(1)fdisk(0)\milo Press any key to conting After I press a key I get another message to press any key to continue and I'm am kicked back to the OS selection screen. I believe the problem I'm having is related to my boot paramters, but I'm not sure what the problem is (I did try a number of different other options other than the one stated). Could someone tell me if the problem is (as I suspect) the boot paramters and if so, which are the correct boot parameters? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike
