If it's based on the UX/BX board then it should run Linux. If it's a different board then you are probably out of luck. There is no AlphaBIOS for these machines, they have their own proprietary ARCSBios, and the only MILO ever done for a Deskstation board was for the UX.
FWIW, even if it's based on the UX I wouldn't buy it unless you're getting an incredible deal. The firmware is out of date and it not getting updated, the onboards NICs are infamous for failing to auto-negotiate..... --rdp On Wed, 13 Sep 2000, Jean-Paul Blaquiere wrote: > I have someone offering me a Desktation Raptor Reflex (433MHz 21164) but the > literature says it's an NT specific machine? > Does this mean that I cannot run linux on it, or do I just have to put up with > Alphabios (or equivelant) and milo? > I have had a quick-ish look through alphalinux.org and > workstation.digital.com, but there > seems to be a minimal amount of info around. > if anyone has any experience with these machines, I would appreciate the info. > > /Jp... > -- Rich Payne [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.alphalinux.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
