Hi, I'm a newbie in this stuff, so everything I'll say is a pure guessing. I looked in SCSI stuff during last 2 months, when I was shopping for a new SCSI drive. Concerning "Timing buffered disk reads: Illegal instruction", I do remember someone in comp.periphs.scsi (I think) reporting problems with write disk cache and disappearance of problems when it was turned off (with only 4% performance loss for their tasks).
