Hi All, This weekend I tried out the boot floppies on my Jensen. (http://people.debian.org/~falk/disks-alpha/jensen/) The booting went fine, the install screen came up correctly. :-)))
OTOH two things are missing: 1st: There is no driver for the AHA1742 SCSI controller in the install kernel. So I can't do an install. 2nd: The is no driver for the NE2000 ISA network card. In my oppinion, the common network cards in the Jensen are: DE203, 205, 422 (the EISA one), and NE2000. But maybe I'm wrong. So I think it is a good idea to include the drivers for these cards in the installation kernel. If it fits on the floppy. -- Steve ps:Here is the booting message: # # Bootparameters for Debian-Installation # # Installation-Boot with: boot dva0 -fl 0 # Rescue-Boot with: boot dva0 -fi linux.gz -fl root=/dev/... # # from SRM-Console # 0:linux.gz ro root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 aboot> b linux.gz root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 console=ttyS0 aboot: loading compressed linux.gz... aboot: segment 0, 2369304 bytes at 0xfffffc0000310000 aboot: zero-filling 242544 bytes at 0xfffffc0000552718 aboot: starting kernel linux.gz with arguments root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 cons ole=ttyS0 Linux version 2.2.19 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 2.95.4 20010319 (Debian pre release)) #1 Sun Jun 10 11:08:18 UTC 2001 Booting on Jensen using machine vector Jensen from SRM Command line: root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 console=ttyS0 Max ASN from HWRPB is bad (0xf) Console: colour dummy device 80x25 64=1c, 60=c3, 3fa=01 2fa=01 Calibrating delay loop... 147.84 BogoMIPS Memory: 125096k available Dentry hash table entries: 16384 (order 5, 256k) Buffer cache hash table entries: 131072 (order 7, 1024k) Page cache hash table entries: 16384 (order 4, 128k) POSIX conformance testing by UNIFIX Linux NET4.0 for Linux 2.2 Based upon Swansea University Computer Society NET3.039 NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0 for Linux NET4.0.
