Hi! Recently, I got access to an AlphaServer 1000 4/233 (a member of the Mikasa family). After some minor problems, I got Debian woody installed on it, but only with a 2.2.22 kernel. First, I tried to compile a custom 2.4.20 kernel, but it did not boot: it seemed like it stuck in an OOPS loop very early. Obviously, I thought I left something out of the kernel, so I tried kernel-image-2.4.18-generic, hoping that I can base my config on that one's.
Unfortunately, it failed to boot the same way as my custom kernel did. At the moment, I don't have the boot log, as I did not have anything to attach to the serial console, and am only interested in knowing if Linux 2.4 supports this box at all, or not? Does anyone have experience with a box like this and 2.4? Thanks, -- Gergely Nagy
