Well, I'm experiencing also some lockups with an XP1000 here. The onboard chip seems to be unable to negotiate the link. I need to set the speed from the SRM prompt. If plugged into a 100Mb switch it will work for a couple of hours and then lockup the machine. It works only with a 10Mb switch.
