I installed Debian 3.0 on an Alphaserver 800/533. There were two problems - The original Kernel always crashed at boottime. - The DAC960 could not be used with the normal kernel. After patching the kernel sources and building a new kernel Debian could be installed. But I don't know wether this problem occurs with all Alphaserver 800. Now it runs flawless.
