USB works fine for me on a 433au GL2 Miata.
Miata SRM doesnt support USB though and will auto switch to serial console if you dont have a PS/2 keyboard plugged in. But how often do you need to tinker with SRM? ;) Linux 2.6.8 image has no problems..
The XP1000 SRM might support USB keyboard (but you have to enable it with an env var AFAIK).
