I have no references to any scsi drivers in my /etc/modules.conf.  Norbert
suggested a change to mkinitrd and rebuild my initrd.img, which I did
but this did not work.

This section of the log actually looks almost exactly like my *good* boot
on 2.6.8-1, except that the 2.6.8-1 boot keeps on going.
