Hi Bob I don't know if it is the best solution, but it works: As far as I know do the S3 Cards have a RAMDAC Clock and are not supported under XFree86 after v3. You can install the package from woody xserver-s3 and mix it with xserver-xfree86 from sarge. It works on my AS4100.
