I mentioned finding a bug report a few days ago concerning the potential issue with "relax". Here's the bugzilla link: http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=5276 Note that this is against binutils-2.17, but if you read down through the entries, version 2.18 was tried without success.
