To collect some more data I continue (even if it is complicated) to use the embedded DIGITAL 21143 Controller.Somtimes the connection works with 100Mbit/sec ! The only Problem is the startup as soon as the connection is established it stays very stable.On the UX164 only ARCS Bios is available but I will check the SRM settings on the AU600 next weekend.Tried also a 2.2.20 Kernel which works even with the cable connected but only at 10Mbit.Thanks,Ian

You might try to use another value your ewa's mode. For DE500-BA adapters I have currently set it to "Auto-Negotiate" and for DECchip 21040 adapter to "Twisted-Pair".
