Matthias, Gcc-4.6 has been built for at least a couple of months on Alpha and with all the other architectures defaulting to gcc-4.6 maybe it is time Alpha did so too. There are some packages that FTBFS on Alpha (most notably gnustep-base) because the package assumes that gcc-4.6 features are available and that's becoming a bit of a hindrance. The next time you upload gcc-defaults would you please make gcc-4.6 the default on Alpha, thanks.
