We are not currently building experimental on Alpha and I personally won't be able to run a build of gcc-4.7 for three weeks or so, most likely. But I would hazard a guess that an Alpha build will fail with GPREL16 relocation errors at the link stage, as gcc-snapshot in unstable has been failing in this manner. Uros (upstream maintainer of the Alpha port of gcc) recently reported that he has to pass --no-relax to the linker (the standard work-around for this problem) to get the build of gcc to complete.
