The drivers at http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com are the same, they have just been reversioned to 1.0.0. Ralink has opened the drivers under GPL and rt2x00 project has taken rt2400 and rt2500 sources in order to make new rt2x00 driver that will support both chipsets and be more stable and improved.

No, dont use rt2400 driver, it's for 11mbit version of chipset only.
Use rt2500, you can get it from http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
ok, thanks for the tip I'll try it ASAP
what about the "official" RT2500 drivers located at RALink ? http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm
isn't it better ?
how do they compare to the rt2x00 Open Source Project (for which there is a link just below their drivers ?)
I couldn't manage to compile it either but I haven't tried gcc-3.4
