Well, I started doing the reply to all thing after I saw a very long thread in Con Kolivas' mailing list where many people replied to all. I guess because some of these kernel developers (including the likes of Ingo Mollnar) weren't subscribed to the list. Probably nobody was expecting them to spend a significant part of the day browsing all the mailing lists they might have posted a reply to (or somebody crossposted their messages), to see if somebody wrote back to them.

In my case, I don't mind the dupe message and I get both in the Debian-AMD64 folder anyway. However, I'm sure you are right and that for normal threads it suffices to just send a reply to the list so I'll go back to doing it that way.

Thanks and sorry for the offtopic thread,
