Note that this says: "Now this has mostly been resolved with a version of the driver that does not contain such firmware and should work with *most* cards" (my emphasis).
Apparently my cards are just not among the "most"... *sigh*
Is there any solution?
Sure just get the BCM5721 driver from broadcam and try it out
worked for me on a tyon board a couple of month ago (we teste ipsec performance on debian/AMD64 with the tg3 and the bcm7500 as well)
