overheating... I don't have a amd64 laptop, but I know that if you accidentally block the airflow you can get REALLY hot REALLY fast.
Also, leave airflow *under* the unit. I don't understand the thermal diffusion, but I know that keeping that area ventilated really helps cut down the heat even when burning cds and stuff of that nature.
