this happens with either generic or k8. and with every disc ive
tried. the cdrom (burner) is ok, given that i installed from it
but after updating from 2.6.8 things stopped working.
Don't use the module ide_scsi. IIRC you have to forcibly specify this
module gets used, so just stopping whatever is loading it (/etc/modules,
etc) from doing so should be enough.
