This fixed the problem for me by installing version 8178. Just add deb http://people.debian.org/~rdonald/nvidia unstable/amd64/ deb http://people.debian.org/~rdonald/nvidia unstable/all/
to your sources. Then: apt-get update m-a gave me some problems so I did: rm -rf /usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/ rm /usr/src/nvidia-kernel* m-a a-i nvidia apt-get install nvidia-glx dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg Not sure if the last step was necessary but now it works.
