You can compile perl 5.8.8-2 yourself from source with apt-get source perl cd perl-5.8.8 su debian/rules binary or you can just find a copy of overload.pm and put it in /usr/lib/perl/5.8.8/overload.pm until perl-base 5.8.8-2 appears in the archives.
