if you're in doubt, cat /proc/cpuinfo what else do you need ?
In the first stanzas, it says for example sth. like
model name      : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
and i only can imagine intel is mentioning if it's 64 bit too.
You can do it from the installer CD shell (read the help instructions) too.
