Dear list,

I am experiencing an annoying problem with the iwl4965 driver.
Currently, I am running two kernels on my Debian Sid laptop:

1) 2.6.22 with mac802.11 and iwlwifi patches from intellinuxwireless.org
2) 2.6.23 from the Debian kernel team, with iwlwifi merged directly by
them.I am not sure which version of the driver has been included in this
releaseand this kernel has not been released in experimental yet, AFAIK

Anyway, with my 2.6.22 the wireless card works beautifully without a
hitch, whereas with 2.6.23 the system boots with the rf_kill switch set
so that the wireless interface does not work.

According to:

http://bughost.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1454

I have checked on my system, and indeed on 2.6.22:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/0000\:03\:00.0/rf_kill

0

whereas on 2.6.23:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/0000\:03\:00.0/rf_kill
2

So I have tried to:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# echo "0" >
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/0000\:03\:00.0/rf_kill

but no luck:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/0000\:03\:00.0/rf_kill
2

What can I do in order to set to "0" the rf_kill switch and have my
wireless connection work on 2.6.23 too? It should be noted that my laptop
(Asus Z37E) is not yet supported by the kernel module asus_laptop, so I
can't really use the button on the keyboard supposed to do that.

Thanks for any help you can give me, please ask for any additional info
you might need.
