you can not have partitions larger than 2TB with a DOS partition table. 2^32 512byte sectors is max. You have to use an EFI partition table (GDT I think it is called) to use larger partitions. So repartition with the new partition format (which probably means you can't boot from the drive using a BIOS, only an EFI machine), then reformat the partition and put the data back. parted can make the new partition tables.
