So something like snapshot would be a good solution,
but obviously only the base system should work, because no one
want to be ready to restore your documents in a
rudimentary level.
So it should not touch the installation scripts,
but the upgrade process to start and should be
listen to the file-level changes.

If any modification is thus working, then
there is no incompatibility between versions, since
save a snapshot of either the total variability.
