You want the intel if you want sound to come out the 1/8" jack on the back. You want the nvidia if you want sound over HDMI from the video card. Of course in my experience a simple way to get sound working when it doesn't unfortunately is: killall pulseaudio It shouldn't have to be that way, but well pulseaudio is pretty buggy even if it is somewhat useful when it works.
