Package: apache2.2-common Version: 2.2.9-6 Severity: wishlist Hi,
Please consider enabling mod_deflate by default. For most sites, this is a reasonable default in that it conserves bandwidth without eating undue amounts of CPU (only HTML and the likes is compressed -- in today's AJAX-heavy world you may want to add application/javascript to the default list, though :-) ) and makes people's pages load a lot faster. There shouldn't be many possible negative side effects either, possibly excluding sites with reverse proxies that can't grok content negotiation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.20.4 Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apache2.2-common depends on: pn apache2-utils <none> (no description available) pn libapr1 <none> (no description available) pn libaprutil1 <none> (no description available) ii libc6 2.7-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libmagic1 4.24-2 File type determination library us ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-10.1 SSL shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-13 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii mime-support 3.44-1 MIME files 'mime.types' & 'mailcap ii net-tools 1.60-19 The NET-3 networking toolkit ii procps 1:3.2.7-8 /proc file system utilities ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime apache2.2-common recommends no packages. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
