I thouht of a more generic setup, like a tunnel or "simulated" usb channel
from the laptop through the network to the usb device on the slug. What I'm
thinking of is aprogram, that sort of forwards the usb signal over the
network and that enables me to access any usb device on the slug via the
network as if it were connected to the laptop itself. The printer would then
show up on the laptop as if it were connected straight ot it, so would other
usb devices with no support for linux (eg. sport watch).

In the meantime I found the program "USB Over Ethernet", a linux version is
promised for this year

There is also [EMAIL PROTECTED], but this seems to be windows only.

CUPS and Samba spring to mind...

Also what model printer? As you will still need the driver for the device on
the nslu2

Subject: USB Tunnel?

Hi!

Is there a program that enables me to asccess a printer that is connected to
the debian slug from my laptop (both mac and win) with a network connection
to the slug as if it were connected to a usb-port of the laptop? That would
mean I could use the mac/win driver for that printer.

Cheers
Samuel
