I have a problem connecting to my samba shares through my wireless network (both on Linux and windows laptops). This is an issue with my wireless networking being a subnet to my wired Ethernet network, and the nslu2 is not able to ping (across it's Ethernet connection) any of the wireless laptops.
Would a quick way of sharing this samba server be to buy a USB wireless adapter (alongside the wired Ethernet), plug it in and configure to my wireless router? The nslu2 isn't that far away from the wireless router (albeit on the first floor, while the wireless is on the ground floor). My laptops get good connectivity when I am sat near the nslu2. Would the nslu2 happily live on two networks like this? What USB wireless adapters should I avoid/can anyone recommend? Can the samba server happily live with two interfaces like this? Would samba over USB wireless be quick enough? Is there any other documentation that will guide me through getting the USB adapter working (at a newbie level)? What kind of gotchas should I be looking for? So, I really need to know whether it is worth trying to fix up the nslu2 with a USB wireless adapter. I've seen the documentation at [0] but I'm not even sure if this is what I'm trying to do. I have been searching the net for similar solutions for a few days now, without significant success - hence me coming here. Thanks in advance.
