I have now upgraded my nslu2 successfully. There was only one hiccup. The minimal system upgrade went fine, as well as kernel and udev upgrades.
During the dist-upgrade, I left the ssh/screen session unattended. When I came back, I could see that the process had completed without any obvious errors, since the '#' prompt was visible. But unfortunately ssh had disconnected (in Putty, the last output on the terminal is still visible even if the connection has dropped). I could not reconnect. I could ping the machine. Since I don't have a serial console, I crossed my fingers and pulled the plug. After that the system booted just fine. aptitude indicates that the upgrade has performed flawlessly. My guess is that the upgrade somehow left sshd in an error state and that the reboot fixed it. If anyone is interested in logs or whatever, just shout. I can't find anything interesting and the system works. So I'm happy. /Björn On Sun, Feb 27, 2011 at 20:06, Groug <[email protected]> wrote: > On Sat, 2011-02-26 at 22:33 -0800, Gordon Farquharson wrote: > > On Sat, Feb 26, 2011 at 03:38, Groug <[email protected]> wrote: > > > On Fri, 2011-02-25 at 12:29 -0800, Gordon Farquharson wrote: > > >> > Success at last ! > > >> > > > >> > I had to turn MODULES=dep to MODULES=most in initramfs...
