It should work due to the initrd override, that override exists exactly
because root=/dev/ram is the default on qnap (and other) devices, and
most people don't have a console cable to mess with it.

Ah right, I'm out of touch with what flash-kernel / initrd does, I'm comfortable just hacking u-boot via serial and or fw_setenv

Fixing up flash-kernel to work with my iconnect is on my todo list but it's a long way down....
