I think this is what it comes down to, any hardware method to increase the RAM of such an old machine is probably going to cost more than just upgrading to a more recent board like the RPi2 (256MB/512MB/1GB) or ODroid C1 (2GB). As a bonus you will get faster CPUs and armhf support.
